Ilseong, aka ILLY, was born and raised in Osaka, Japan as the 3rd generation of Korean Japanese. For his dream to be a medical professional who supports athletes, he completed his education of athletic training, acupuncture, and traditional Chinese medicine at Kansai University of Health Sciences.

To pursue further clinical skills/knowledge with the combination of eastern and western medicine, Illy flew to San Diego in 2012, completed an athletic training internship at UC San Diego, and earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS). Through his physical therapy education, he learned the great depth of human biomechanics, PT treatment, movement analysis, and manual therapy skills. As Illy started his career, he earned CSCS certified by NSCA to help athletes as a Strength & Conditioning specialist. After years of clinical experience and dedication to his patients, cutting-edge clinical skills, & advanced knowledge, he earned a board-certified orthopaedic clinical specialist (OCS), the advanced certification that only 6% of all physical therapists in the United States have.

Throughout his clinical and fitness experience as an acupuncturist, athletic trainer, strength & conditioning specialist, and physical therapist in both Japan and America, he has worked with various martial artists (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, karate, kajukenbo, etc), tennis players (Division 1), professional Japanese baseball player, professional Japanese boxer, student athletes, including soccer, American football, water polo, baseball, diving, volleyball, basketball, etc.

Illy creates an individualized PT plan and provides high-quality care for not only musculoskeletal injuries but also vestibular impairments (dizziness/vertigo) and concussions from young athletes to geriatric populations. Illy finds the root cause of your pain, gives you a thorough education, and assists you to prevent future injuries by improving your physical function and athletic performance. During his free time, he likes to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, train Muay Thai, explore different coffee shops, read books, and hang out with his wife.
