ORTHOPAEDIC/SPORTS REHAB

ORTHOPAEDIC/SPORTS REHAB

We help you recover from any musculoskeletal issues, sports-related injuries, and post-operation limitations such as pain, muscle weakness, and joint stiffness. The human body is designed to move. However, you might develop the most and least favorite muscles to use and create movement patterns (habits) through those physical limitations. Even daily activities, sports, works, and hobbies can potentially create habits to increase the risk of future injury. We dissect your specific physical impairments, assist you on the road to recovery, and prevent future injuries.

MUSCULOSKELETAL ULTRASOUND IMAGING

This is an imaging procedure that allows a Doctor of Physical Therapist to see muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and more. This imaging procedure is to help diagnose muscle strains, ligament tears, nerves, and arthritis. Ultrasound uses no radiation and has no known harmful effects on humans. This real-time imaging allows ultrasound to capture movement in the tissues, something x-ray, CT, and MRI can't do. Patients don't have to remain still for an ultrasound, meaning it can be easily used on people who are claustrophobic or nervous about other imaging types.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

Our double licensed/certified doctor of physical therapy and strength & conditioning specialist will improve your muscle strength in functional and practical fashion and assist you move better and faster. After assessing your current training status, we analyze the movements and sports physiology required by athletic activities that you want to improve. We determine the type, order, frequency, and volume of strength and conditioning exercises based on the analysis, seasons, and goals. Let’s get stronger, move faster, and become more functional together!

FATIGUE RECOVERY

Fatigue, muscle soreness, and joint stiffness from everyday training of martial arts, sports, and other vigorous physical activities increase the risk of injury. In fact, research shows fatigued muscle loses the ability to properly contract and compromises shock absorbing function before reaching the maximum stretch; thus, it becomes vulnerable to getting a strain injury! At CAPT, we offer point care/recovery service Assisted Stretch, Soft Tissue/Deep Tissue Mobilization, Myofascial Release, Joint Manipulation (commonly called Joint adjustment), etc. Contact us for the details!

MANUAL THERAPY

MANUAL THERAPY

Your physical therapist utilizes manual therapy includes joint mobilization, joint thrust techniques (commonly called joint adjustment), myofascial decompression (commonly called cupping therapy), IASTM (commonly called guasha, Graston), and myofascial release such as Active Release Technique, Shiatsu, trigger point release) to improve stiffness, increase your joint mobility & pain free range of motion, restore muscle pliability, and decrease pain intensity.

MANUAL THERAPY

IASTM

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a treatment utilized by special metal tools in various shapes to fit your body parts. By applying IASTM to your affected area, we promote type I collagen synthesis & realignment, reduce pain intensity, decrease the sensation of stiffness, and promote soft tissue mobility.

MYOFASCIAL DECOMPRESSION

MYOFASCIAL DECOMPRESSION

Myofascial decompression therapy is a treatment applied suction cups on your body. This technique is used to modulate the pain intensity based on gate control theory.

This treatment sometimes leaves circle marks on your skin. They are called petechiae. It is not harmful or painful.

VESTIBULAR PHYSICAL THERAPY

Balance impairment is composite impairment, meaning that there are multiple factors affecting the balance. Vestibular system (inner ear balance system) is one of the biggest roles of balance. With our vestibular rehabilitation, we can improve inner ear balance function for better physical stability. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is one of the common vestibular impairments, which physical therapy responds very well, and it can be cured immediately by specific reposition techniques.

CONCUSSION RECOVERY

CONCUSSION RECOVERY

Martial artists have a high risk of injury from a strong impact. As a result, it is common for martial artists to be affected by concussions. The research shows that concussed patients who received concussion and vestibular rehabilitation (i.e., gaze stabilization exercise and head turn adaptation) at the proper timing recovered more effectively and sooner than other concussed individuals who only received conservative methods such as resting and cardio. In addition, it is crucial to address other factors such as neck dysfunction, nutrition, blood circulation, inflammation process, lifestyle, etc.
